Phase 2 - Little girl's room

This is going to be our little girl's room.  The colors are not bad but the brown wall is a little too dark for my test.  Luckly the dots are vinyl so they came off very fast.

The plan for this room:  remove carpet, window treatment, install laminate floors, new baseboards, paint walls lighter color, and revive the day.bed by spray painting it gold.

This calk wall will stay but I am thinking about putting a frame around it.

This room has needed primer.  I have did the removal of the carpet in this room because let's face it, Geppetto has a day job.  He took care of the tack strips because he is a pro at taking them out.  I am really slow.  Let me tell you about this carpet....it's the original beast.  (Beast because I hate carpet with a passion, it's dirty and it needs to be eliminated from the house, especially the one I live in it.)  Well, this special beast is the original and as such the padding is original also.  As I was pulling the padding apart it was crumbling in my hands,  I wanted to be in a bunny suit so bad with a mask over my mouth, my nose and goggles.  I wanted to bath in  alcohol.  But I was so proud that I did this.

The most exciting thing about this room is that Geppetto has decided to finally teach me how to lay laminate flooring, so that we can divide and concur.  It has been great, I love my new skill.

It's really hard to show in these pictures the true color of this room. it's supposed to be a light purple but it looks more like a soft pink.  It is so important to have the right colors in different spaces, this room felt really dark before.  Everyone has been in love with this room, even my boys.
The finishing touches here would be to get different nightstands, my choice would be black with gold handles.  I wanted to paint the ones we already have since I feel they are the perfect height, but Geppetto insists on getting different ones.  I would also like matching lamps to go on the nightstands.

This is to give you guys an idea of the different tones of color of the laminate, it shows a lot darker in pictures, but in person it's really beautiful.

Dressers
This week I finally took the time to re-do these little dressers.  I got these babies for free years ago and I love the height and how well they fit into this room, so for $25 dollars of furniture paint I can change their look.  The color is black and the knobs are gold matching the bed.  I painted them in my room.
If you are thinking about re-painting furniture I recommend the Valspar furniture paint.  I have used regular paint in the past for some project and have seen a huge difference in quality.  Spend the extra for better quality.
